Publishing Houses

Although the business of publishing houses seems to be facing a major online threat, traditional newspapers, magazines, novels, textbooks, maps, guides and directories printed on paper are still part of daily life in Bulgaria.

The first Bulgarian publishing house was established in the city of Plovdiv in 1855 and still bears the name of its founder Hristo G.Danov. Some publishing houses specialise in newspapers, others publish mostly fiction or text books. Some have their own bookshops.
