1) In almost every second patient, with chemotherapy undergoing, there is a decrease of Leukocytes (WBC). Very often, there is a decrease of the Hemoglobin (Hgb) as well, less of the Platelet (Plt) and Neutrophils (Neu). With the Radiotherapy these changes occur less frequently and are less pronounced.
2) If you do not take precautions before going for infusions of chemotherapeutic, it is possible to have a surprise if the values especially of the leukocytes are not in the norm.
When the leukocytes are low prior to chemotherapy, there are several possibilities:


1-st possibility – to make you return home, until your leukocytes get to normal.
2-nd possibility – the physicians-oncologists will recommend to inject you with chemicals to increase the leukocytes with so called "Growth factors" or corticosteroids (as if not enough your body filled with chemical agents of chemotherapy and now additional injections with other chemicals)!

To avoid the surprise of a sharp drop in leukocytes, before chemotherapy or radiotherapy, provided that the leukocytes and your other blood counts are normal, it is advisable to start prophylactic intake of MAOLO - 1 capsule daily.
It is very important to make self control – approximately the 10th day between two infusions (if they are made in 21 days) to organize yourself a control study of the leukocytes (if necessary of the hemoglobin, platelets or neutrophils).
The dosage of MAOLO is corrected depending on the result. If the leukocytes are going to "fall", increase the daily dosage of MAOLO with one, two or more capsules (up to 6 capsules within 24 hours). If the values are high, reduce the dose.
You should be aware that the leukocytes are a "fast" indicator. After the infusions with chemotherapeutic, for a few days it is possible they to "fall" very low, below normal. With MAOLO in appropriate doses, they can be "lifted" to normal (compare with the control / reference / values of the laboratory).
Hemoglobin usually manifests as "slow" indicator - slowly "falls" and slowly "increase". For about a month, using MAOLO it first stabilizes (stops to "fall") and for about a month, month and a half it began to normalize. The platelets and neutrophils stabilize and increase a little bit faster. But it's very individual!
Be careful, because different laboratories work with different reference values, depending on the methods used for reporting of the results.
