Bus and Coach Stations

All cities and most large towns in Bulgaria have bus stations, often but not always located near the railway station. Buses between the major cities run at fairly regular intervals during the day against a published timetable.

However buses between the smaller towns and villages can be infrequent and particularly if you need to change buses in the middle of your journey, there can be long waiting periods.

Bus stations generally do not have left-luggage storage facilities and the waiting rooms can be poor. General advice is to check departure times before arrival at the bus station via the published telephone numbers.

Buying bus and coach tickets can be done at the coach station however it is more often via the operator. Travel agents and tour operators should also be able to help particularly if you don't speak Bulgarian.
