Associations

Associations are voluntary organisations of people sharing a cause: non-profit foundations; trade associations; scientific, civil or sports societies.

In Bulgaria, there are both representative offices of international organisations such as the WWF or the Open Society Fund and local NGOs such as the Access to Information Programme and the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism. Another group are occupational associations: of barristers, cosmetic surgeons, metal-workers or clean-energy producers. Some associations are based in a city only, others have branches around the country.
