In Bulgaria, alcoholic drinks are sold are supermarkets, specialised liquor shops as well as local groceries. Although Bulgarians take big pride in their national drink, the grape or plum brandy called rakia, liqueur of nearly every kind is available on the market: cherry brandy to ouzo to tequila to bourbon. The produce of the recently renovated local breweries, most of which are owned by leading Belgian brands; the numerous wine cellars and rakia makers vies with imported rivals such as Russian vodka, Irish whisky and Cuban rum.
